The park is home to numerous animal species, including brown bears, wolves, lynx, and different bird species. Two more threatened species that are safeguarded in the park are the European brown bear and the Eurasian lynx.

The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a popular tourist destination, drawing in millions of visitors annually.. Visitors must adhere to severe restrictions and regulations, such as keeping on designated trails and not littering, to protect the park's ecological and natural beauty.
